FuncionesBACKGROUND

CVC is a constituency-based regional advocacy coalition of diverse civil society actors, grouping over sixty community non-governmental organizations working with populations especially vulnerable to HIV/AIDS that are often forgotten by treatment and health care programme. We provide a platform for policy dialogue and comprehensive, coordinated responses that address vulnerability, human rights, and sexual health. CVC has offices in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic with partners in the countries that we work.

CVC’s mission is to mobilize the voice, visibility and participation of the diverse groups to impact the regional HIV response and to create an enabling environment by which to end the conditions and consequences of marginalization.



This position is a full-time Programme Assistant:
1) To provide support in organization, administration, planning, and implementation for CVC’s overall workplan based on the organisation’s multiple donor funding portfolio.
2) To provide technical, organizational, administrative and capacity building support to CVC’s partners and grantees.
The candidate will report:
• Directly to Program Manager based in the CVC office in the DR for determining the monthly projects, responsibilities, tasks and activities assigned to the Programme Assistant
• Directly to the Finance and Programmatic Officer based in the CVC office in the DR.
• Other specified team members at CVC as required by the work in question
Tasks
Operational support
• Assist with the planning of project activities and implementation with project counterparts
• Assist in budget preparation and ongoing support for activities based on proposals, contracts and on discussions with counterparts using participatory methods
• Develop and maintain good working relations with counterpart and partner agencies throughout the Caribbean based on a participatory approach
• Assist organization for meetings, workshops, and trainings, including preparing logistics, checking of curricula, tools and estimated budgets
• Provide support for technical meetings and workshops related to CVC’s projects; report and share with the team on the content of these meetings
• Share experience, knowledge and skills with other staff
• Properly file plans, reports and other documentation related to projects and programs, keeping program and project administration in order. This should pay particular attention to the need for timely input from partner and beneficiary CBOs throughout the Caribbean to keep programming on track and ensure that all relevant support documentation for activities and expenditures are verified and filed according to the funding source.
• Assist in project administration by drafting and answering emails and filing correspondence
• Assist in the development of program documents by preparing tables, forms and entering data
• Assist in other activities and tasks as required.

• Perform the work to the benefit of the aims and policies of CVC’s mandate and mission.
• Refrain from communicating any internal information, either in documents or verbally, to outsiders without the explicit approval of the relevant CVC supervisor.
• Avoid any actions or expressions, which would damage the good name of CVC
• Carry out their work to the best of their knowledge and ability at all times, and never neglect the aims and priorities of CVC.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Academic qualification in a relevant field such as social science or public health
• Excellent communication skills in English (ability in another language used in the Caribbean such as Spanish or French is an asset).
• Good administrative skills and experience in office administration
• Some financial management experience at the level of office expenditure monitoring
• Excellent computer skills related to program administration and data management; willingness to learn new software when needed
• Interest in both research and operational programs on gender, key populations, social marginalization, poverty and HIV/AIDS
• Ability to communicate and work with people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Having good references and able to provide a sample of own written work
• Able to speak French or creole is an asset
• Experience in tourism is an asset

This is a full time position for the duration of three months (with possibility of extension if both parties agree) commencing on 1st February 2018 and ending 30th April 2019).
Training opportunities on the job are available as long as they are related to the tasks of the employee.

Salary based on the experience of the candidate.
